Work with the lab

The CoDS Lab works on agents that operate safely on organizational data: governed memory, action contracts, validation of agent-generated code, agent security and graph foundation models. Students build open-source systems, publish at venues such as SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, EMNLP and CCS, and collaborate with industry partners including IBM Research, Google and the National Research Council Canada. Recent graduates have gone on to Mila–McGill, Verily, the University of Waterloo, IBM, Desjardins, National Bank of Canada and Snowflake (see the team page).

The lab looks for students with a strong systems or data-management background, good programming skills and curiosity about how agents fail in practice. Familiarity with databases, knowledge graphs, machine learning or security is a plus, and no single one is required.
